the ultimate valentine’s day gift

check out david foox’s AWESOME valentine’s themed painting of his heart (hand mixed acrylic), on top of an x-ray of his own chest.

this piece is limited to a very small number of pieces because of the amount of radiation his body has been subjected to in the past year. “i hope i don’t get sick and need any more x-rays, according to my doctor, i am not allowed any more radiation”, says FOOX.

each piece comes framed in a backlit box and exudes a very spooky and personal quality about it. “imagine having your very own heart painted on top of an x-ray of your body,” continues FOOX in talking about his work.

PS: FOOX reports that as soon as he is able to withstand more radiation, he will do a 4th of july series of 8 back x-rays with the spine painted. “america needs a little back bone right about now,” says FOOX.

On the issue of the word “….. (censored)” again.

It seems that the issue of the word “…..” (the Islamic council of Melaka had just prohibited the use of a bunch of Islam-related words by non-Muslims, both in writing or in verbal form) has extended beyond the original one: whether Christians are allowed to sing prayers to “…..”

Yes, now all non-Muslims are prohibited to speak/write the word ‘…..’, as well as many others, such as insya….., alhamd……., masya….., etc. I’m not sure about assalam…….. and the reply, but they should have been prohibited too, like ‘…..’, which is the Malay word for the Christian Bible. Therefore, SIB in Peninsular Malaysia now have a problem, because they have to remove the middle word.

I’m not very sure how this will affect most non-Muslims out there. I used to say ‘Ya …..’ but not now of course (law-abiding me). Now I’ve realised that the issue of calling God in Malay language is as big as ever.

No wonder non-Malays can never speak the national language as good as the Malays.

Sometimes I wonder, where is this country going?

haigh…why do the word “ ” can cause such a big issue in Malaysia..Even BBC interviewed Mr.林冠英 for this issue if i’m not mistaken… The word “ ” has been used for so many years and nothing really happened…Also,so many tragedies happened that need to be concerned but why do they still spending so much of time and effort to censored this and that which brings no harm to anyone except those “ “..

sigh….the proposed “1 Malaysia” is just a dream and it wont be realized…..
